Smooth flight until just crossing the Germany coast when a ME-110 came in unseen. He missed by our Tail Gunner Sgt Haynes nailed the bugger. Over Frankfurt we got clobbered by a very skill Jerry pilot. His first attacked took out the rubber rafts, his second the oxygen in the pilot compartment as well as the waist and he put the tail guns out. His last run he hit the outer fuel tank which started a first. The skipper hit the bell and we were all gone out the plane. We landed ok but were soon surrounded by the Luftwaffe and taken prisoner.
