From the International Red Cross, Switzerland —
By invitation of the German Luftwaffe, representatives of the IRC inspected the remains of a downed RAF Lancaster, located about 1 hour west of Augsburg, Germany. Evidence of the remains indicated the aircraft had been named West Sussex Doune. The investigators located the remains of 7 crewman. Due to an apparent fire and subsequent explosion, positive identification of individual crewmen were not possible in the field.
