On the way to the target, the rear gunner hit a 110, but it continued its attack. The mid-upper gunner also did the same exact thing, hit a 110 that continued. Over the target, there were two flak bursts that hit...and the first had 6 hits. The first took out the nose turret. The second started a fuel tank fire on the wing, and there was a controlled bailout over land. The ENTIRE crew was taken as POWs.
