The take off was a clean one, good for a first. Luck was with us as we were constantly bumped by 110's without seeing them first. Lucky for us Jerry must be near sited because he couldn't hit us. finally as the weather was closing in The Mid Upper downed one North West of Ludwigshaven and the Tail gunner damaged another very near the city. The weather was poor over the target which kept us safe but put us off target. After the bomb run we high tailed for home and got the with only the Mid Upper guns out of action.
