On September 3, 1943, our target was Stuttgart. Two Me-110's were evaded over the Netherlands, with Algol taking only minor damage. Near Ludwigshaven, though, our outboard port tank was set alight. It could not be extinguished. We all bailed out safely, and were promptly captured.
