Weather was clear with a good takeoff. Enemy action was first encountered NW of Essen. a Wild boar got in undetected and shot up our port rudder and strb wing root. Within 20 min's we were again jumped by another 110. We took evasive action and forced him to make another pass. On this pass he came in from 3:00 level right into the guns of Sgt.Erwin which forced him to break off but not befor he got off a burst which knocked out the #3 engine. Due to the range to target a command decision was made to dump the bombs and abort the mission. Again we were jumped but this time Sgt.Gallant spotted him first and no damaging passes were made. We landded without further incedent.
