Crossed the coast and I picked up a ME-110 trying to come in on our six. "Cockscrew Port Skipper!" I yelled as we traded shots with Jerry. We both missed and after acouple more passes he left us alone. It wasn't much later when one of his mates tried the same trick. This time I nailed him good in the cockpit and port engine. A flammer as he went down. Closer to Berlin the fighters started to increase their attacks. Sgt Jackson the mid-upper gunner claimed a ME-110 damaged while Jerry caused some superficial damage to the tail. Over Berlin we could see searchlights all over the place as we watch for our target markers. We could see where our chaps had bombed before. An ME-109 came in to attack but he missed. Just As FO Mann was getting ready to drop our bombs flak caused some damaged to the waist and the Port wing oil tank for #2 eng which sealed. Bombs went wide. On the way out were attacked by fighters which hit #1 eng fuel tank which sealed. During this run FO Mann got into the ose turret and destroyed the ME-110. Pretty much left along til we reached the coast. ME-110 caused some superficial damage and the SW oil tank #3 eng sealed. Landed ok.
Breakfast anyone?
