O for Orange, the Creaking Door, did not return from the mission to Berlin on the night of 21/22 Spetember, 1943. The crew was on its 13th mission. Report indicate the aircraft flew over the target and was shot down by fighters on the return trip.
Red Cross reports indicate all of the crew was taken prisoner with the exception of the mid-upper gunner whose body was found in the wreckage of the bomber.
