Being at the tail of the stream has good and bad points. Jerry know where your going but you get to see where everyone else is dropping and the fires help to pick out reference points for the bomb aimer. We were attacked straight off as we cross the Dutch coast. Rumbold was on the job and spotted the bugger and we did some evasive manuevers to giv him the slip. Attacked again as we neared the target zone. Snuck up on us and hosed us down (7 hits!) and lightly wounded Jones in the mid upper.
As we reached the target, Rumbold spotted another 110 trying to sneek up and sent the bugger down in flames. Then we were illuminated by a searchlight. A Wild Boar came at us from 130 level and missed as we saw bits come off of his fighter. Flak was everywhere except where it needed to be to hit us. Bombs were spot on. Had a 110 make a pass as we left the target zone.
Last enemy seen was over the Dutch countryside. He made two passes but Jones in the mid upper sent him away with a couple well place shots.
Landing was uneventful.
