Smooth flight until we crossed into Germany. ME-110 came in and caused S/F damage to both wings and the bomb bay. Later we found that the starboard wing root had taken a hit. Over the target the Skipper called out that he had yellow target markers in sight. FO Mann replied, "I seem them Skipper." As he got to work on his sight. Another ME-110 came in from behind and caused S/F damage to both wings and took out our life raft. No trouble from flak or the search lights and we got 40% on target. On the turn from target another ME-110 came in on us, "Not this time me lad." As I fired a burst into his cockpit and port engine. Sgt Reed our new Mid Upper called out that the 110 exploded off our starboard wing. While still over Germany we got picked up by another ME-110, I knocked some pieces off of him but it didn't slow him down as he took out the bomb controls and knocked out our port landing gear. He was a greedy one and coming in at 12 High FO Mann got a good burst into him and shot tht Jerry down. Just crossing the Dutch coast another ME-110 got behind us and caused S/F damage to the waist. On the last pass he also took out the auto-pilot and the skipper was lightly wounded. Another gear up landing for us as the skipper with help from the Flt Engineer brought the ship down nice and easy on the grass. Strangely tired and not up for breakfast, just a cup of tea and it's off to bed!
