A good flight. Uneventful until leaving the Netherlands when our new rear gunner, Nick, got a piece of a Me-110. Just before Berlin we were jumped by another 110 which took our pieces of the port wing, but Alex in the nose shot down the bugger! To top it off, he put bombs on target at 30%! Leaving the target, Nick tied things up and got his own 110. We were good the rest of the way out until just past the Netherlands when an 110 took out the upper turret and the heater as well as engine #3. We had to descend and were again hit, taking out the tail turret and the upper's oxygen. Luckily, we were in sight of home by this time and had a safe, uneventful landing.
