Our first duty beckoned and Chris was eager to rid himself of beer boy status.
The mission was very quiet and uneventful all the way to Stuttgart and not a single boar was encountered. It all seemed pretty tame at this time and things continued to go smoothly during our bomb run. Over the target a tame boar was encountered, but good old Bully put some lead into him and he was last seen making his way down faster than he came up. Brummy let go his payload scattering Fritz beneath him. 60% recorded.
Then we turned home and we all dreamed of bacon and eggs, unfortunately Fritz had other ideas. Stil over Stuttgart, Tame Boar, Flak and Wild Boar all came to greet us. Micheal caught a hail of flak and perished, whilst Roger coped some shrapnel and the bus got cut to shreds but somehow managed to stay afloat.
Battered we headed home, ran into a final tame boar who sprayed us, wounding Bully in the process and landed safely on our belly.
Respectfully,
Pilot Officer Christopher Jenkins-Lacey
