D for Dingy Mission 8 AAR : Stuttgart

A late start due to some mechanical problems. One of the ground crew left a sodding rag in the intake manifold on #3. Bloody mess that could have been. But we made it up and avoided the Boars until zone 5, that bloody nest. We had problems there last mission. He surprised us from 6:00 and got a burst of but only superficial damage. We were jumped again in zone 7 with no result and again in zone 8. This time Sgt Lee damaged him and drove him off, but only after some super hits and our dingy being shot up. We didn't care for that to much as we carried on. We sliped into the target past the fighters and searchlights. Flak was light and we got 30% on the flares. We weren't as sly as we thought though and a 110 jumped us in the confustion. His problem thought as Sgt Billard spotted him just in time and spoiled his aim. It forced him to come in again from 1:30 level right into the guns of Sgt Lee and Flt/Lt Cummer. Both turrets found their mark and Jerry lite up like a flare. After tha the Skipper slipped us back across Western Europe without any further hassle. The stress of the multipule incounters however was starting to show and our landing was rough. We'll have to have the ground crew take a look at the gear, and this time take their blooming tools with them.

Cheers.
