AFter our early return on the last mission the crew of O Orange II was keen to make up for it. We took off and assembled with the bomber stream. Just south of Luxembourg an ME110 had a go climbing below. He scored some hits in the bomb bay and knocked out the right aerilon. The gunners had a go but missed due to wild corkscrewing by the pilot.
An ME109 made a Wild Boar attack on the run up to the target attacking from 300 high. He missed has did the mid-upper gunner. Unfortunately the attack coincided with the bomb drop and our pilot jinked a bit from the tracers passing just over his head and caused the bombs to miss the TIs.
The return trip was uneventful and we landed safely at the base.
