We got surprised in Zone 5 just like O Orange II did. Maybe it was even the same hun? He shot PM002 full of holes, but as luck would have it, hit nothing vital. Houseman popped him on a passing shot, so he wouldn't be bothering anyone else later in the stream. Still, we were dogged by 110s from there on until Zone 9. 110 in a surprise attack, didn't do much on his first pass. But Houseman failed to down him. He gave us a licking on his second go. Plane started acting a bit sluggish, and flight engineer Duncun reported heavy leakage from the #4 fuel tank. His calculations barely gave us enough fuel to make it to an emergency field in Suffolk. The P-51 base at Leiston, if we were lucky. Well, we did not make it. Had to ditch when we could see the lights on the coast. We were picked up by a passing fisherman, and after him and his missus treated us to dinner, we're back and in need of new wings.
