A for Apple Mission 11 AAR : Berlin

First mission for us and it was a quiet flight until we crossed the German border and were jumped by a ME-110. We didn't spot him at first and he scored S/F damage to the Nose and Tail. I had a go at him on his second pass but we both missed and he went off into the night. Another of his friends had a go with us short of the target area and everyone missed all around. Probably a rookie like us. Over the target area Thomas spotted the ME-110 coming in and hit him in the port engine, but not enough to break off his attack on us. The starboard wing had some holes in it and Thomas called out on the intercom that his guns were U/S. Skipper asked if he was ok and Thomas replied he was and then he stayed with the guns and kept them moving. Jerry didn't know the guns were out and he might think twice if he saw our turret constantly on the move. Not soon after that we got caught in the search lights and soon had a ME-109 on our tail. He must had been another rookie as we came through with no damage. Robert called out that he had the markers in sight and was opening the bomb bay doors. Flak bounced us around but caused no damage as it seem like forever until Robert called out, "Bombs gone!" With that the skipper put us into a hard port turn to get us out of the target area. Very quiet on the way out with no attacks made on us. Though we kept staring at the night sky until our eyes felt like that were going to pop out of their sockets! Over the channel we did have a quick scare but soon made out the familiar shape of another Lanc.. The Skipper gave our wing tip lights a quick flash and then we seperated and headed home.

No problems on landing and Chiefy said he will have the turret fixed in no time.
