Short of the target area we were attacked by a real pro who knocked out our bomb aiming equipment but also killed our Flt Eng. Never knew what him. Alot of holes in our bomb bay doors as we got over the target. Jerry's Flak guns were not even close until the last barrage. Caught our outboard fuel tank real good. The Mid Upper called out, Our Port Wing is on fire Skipper!
That was it for us and the Skipper hit the bell and we all jumped and were soon picked up by a couple of German policemen, who turned us over to a squad of German troops.
