Shot up by a ME110 which hit the starboard wing holing the life rafts and damaged the bomb release mechanism. We pressed on intending to salvo the bombs manually but the ME110 followup attack hole the fuel tanks in the starboard inner tank. At the rate we were losing fuel there was no way we would be able to reach the target. We turned and headed for home. The bombs were jettisoned in the North Sea and we landed without further incident.
