Farr's Revenge Mission 13 AAR : Berlin

Lord & Lady Farr
Farr Hall

RAF Wyton

Dear Lord & Lady Farr,

I am again writing to your goodselves to update you on the fortunes of the Lancaster bomber you do gratefully paid for in honour of your gallant son's memory.

It is with a note of sadness that I have to inform you of the unsuccessful outcome of our last operational mission. As we were approaching the enemy coast we had the most unusual misfortune to be fell upon by the most determined Hun pilot who fought like blazes to put us out of action.

During repeated attacks he took a serious toll on Farr's Revenge culminating in frightful damage to the forward part of the aircraft, wounding myself, the navigator and the bombardier and knocking out the bomb aiming equipment.

Due to this, and the simply frightful nature of the bombardiers wounds, I had no choice but to ditch the bombs and turn Farr's Revenge for home. Despite some hair raising bumps we landed the good ship safely, and Bones informs that despite fears, our bombardier will be available to fly in the near future.
