Wobbly Wheel Mission 14 AAR : Brunswick

Mission Report: ‘Wobbly Wheel’

A successful start of tour for the crew of ‘Wobbly Wheel’ on their first mission with 314 Squadron, with all crew members returning safely with 30% bombs on target.

The flight was uneventful until 70 miles west of Brunswick when we took 5 hits from an unspotted ‘goggled goblin’ in an ME-110. Damage was mostly superficial and Charlie Wilkinson was ready for the re-attack and scored direct hits on the bandit that exploded in a fireball before opening up on us again.

Over target the weather was good as forecast and luckily for us Jerry was busy elsewhere enabling us to have a decent run in and putting an estimated 30% of the load on target.

Jerry hit us once more on the return whilst we were over the Netherlands but we again only sustained s/f damage.

Back home safely, and celebrating in the ‘Dirty Duck’ this evening with a ‘pint of best’!

Summary:
Damage: Landing Gear, Port Wing Root, S/Board Tail plane Root + S/F damage
Claims: x1 (Two) Me-110 (Wilkinson.C)
Crew Status: All available for future ops

Respectfully,
Pilot Officer Jack Kirkham
