Lucky Lois Mission 14 AAR : Brunswick

It wasn't a lucky mission for Lois, that's for sure, and Jerry gave us quite a welcoming party. We limped back to base with the port #2 engine out, oxygen out in the tail (and fire damage), the intercom out, mid-upper guns jammed, and various other chunks taken out of the plane, but she got us home.

It was a clean mission at first but a we were hit by a 110 night fighter twice, the first one jammed up the mid-upper turret and the second one blew out the tail oxygen and killed the our pilot. We came over the target but the spotlights got us, and a 109 blasted one of our port engines all to hell, we avoided the flak and managed to dump our load, but were off target, Trantham did a hell of a job just getting 10% of them on target.

With an engine out and oxygen out in the tail, we dropped down to 10,000 feet for the trip back, we were ambushed by one more night fighter on the way home and he shot up our intercom and some bits and pieces, and plugged Trantham pretty good, it was touch and go for him but he bounced back fast once we were back home. The engineer Willis got us on the ground with a bumpy landing, but we're ready to go again as soon as they can patch up the old girl.
