Wobbly Wheel Mission 15 AAR : Magdeburg

Mission Report: Wobbly Wheel

An aborted mission for the crew of Wobbly Wheel with the aircraft and all crew members returning safely to base.

The flight was uneventful until zone 5 when we were hit in both wings and the tail by an unspotted ME-110, who was shaken off after his first run. Freddie Marsden, the Flight Engineer, quickly realised that we were losing fuel from the port wing and calculations of estimated flying time unfortunately gave us no option but to abort and head for home.

With one eye nervously watching the instruments we luckily managed to land the crate safely back at base.

Summary:
Damage: Tail Landing Wheel, Port Wing Fuel Tank, S/Board Wing S/F damage.
Claims: Nil
Crew Status: All available for future ops

Respectfully,
Pilot Officer Jack Kirkham
314 Squadron Wobbly Wheel
