We form up & head out to Magdeburg in a very dark night. We cross over the coast & immediately pick up a Me110. He manages to land a superficial hit, but our Nose gun takes care of him as he passes to the front. Another 110 quickly picks up the trail & is coming up. The Tail Gunner spots him, causing damaging & driving off the 110.
We travel in peace for a short while. Then another 110 finds us. He misses his first shots, as we did also. While passing underneath our Nose gun also misses, but the rear gunner lands for the 110 hitting the Mid-upper gunner, causing a light wound. The 110 comes around again & lands, this time wounding the Radio Operator, Light Wound. This time the Nose Gun manages a hit, but only after taking a couple of more hits and again the Radio Operator is lightly wounded.
We are catching hell as another 110 is following our tail this time we get a hit from the tail gunner & the Nose damages him causing it to break off. Finally we get over the target. A 110 comes up & lands three shots, hitting the Starboard Wing root & wing flap! Worst of all both the previously wounded crewmembers are hit again. The Radio Operator is Seriously Wounded & the Mid-Upper Gunner is KIA. A 109 attacks, but thankfully he misses. We are suddenly caught in the searchlight — here comes the flak! We take a hit to the St. Wing, Superficial. We still manage to drop twenty percent on target. Now to turn around & head for home! We stirred up a hornets nest tonight! A 110 attacks, misses & as he passes the rear gunner hits us. Luckily no major damage!
On the way back a 110 attacks & misses, our Nose gunner gets him, getting the kill! We are almost home now. One last 110 comes up from behind, takes two hits. He still manages to land a hit, killing our Radio Operator after all our efforts to keep him alive! Finally the 110 goes away & we cross the channel! Home at last! We approach the landing strip & finally touchdown after a wild night!
