Relatively quiet outbound trip until we reached target. Were jumped by Me110 which missed our ship. The flak was very ineffective and we encountered no Wild Boar fighters. Anderson hit the target rather thoroughly and we turned for home. Another Me110 jumped us and holed our inboard port tank which luckily sealed. Anderson received a light wound and damaged this attacker. We received a lot of superficial damage and a couple of rudder and control hits. In Zone 6, we lost our tail turret, and soon after our #2 engine. Peter MacNichol was killed outright by enemy fire and Engineer Trevor Bavis brought the ship home. We were lucky to make it back from this one, after sustaining 12 superficials. It could have been much worse.
