A quiet trip out until we had made the turn onto the final run up to the target. A ME110 climbing from below got some hits on the port wing and the starboard outer engine. Our gunners missed with return fire due to the violent corkscrewing action. We dropped 60% of our load on the TIs and headed for the darkness and the long slog back to base. Another ME110 tried to get us but Link in the tail spotted it and opened fire managing to damage the port engine. The enemy fighter was seen diving away to the north. We landed safely and the erks will have O Orange II ready for the next mission.
