Hit by surprise attacking Me110 in zone 5 outbound which lightly wounded Anderson, wrecked our tail guns and shot out #1 engine which Jacoby managed to feather. Also took hit to control cables and starboard rudder shot out. Decided to abort mission due to falling behind formation. Hit by another Me110 (spotted) immediately which shot out #2 engine (feathered) and took out the port wing flap and hit the starboard aileron. Dropping to 10,000 feet due to engine losses, we were hit by flak over zone 4, luckily only losing the starboard aileron. Despite spending two turns per zone, we were fortunate to escape fighter attacks and put the old girl down safely.
Russell managed to damage one Me110 Anderson received light wound and is since recovered
