Flight Log - Z for Zebra II:
Our first mission. Amazing luck. Attacked by three night fighters outbound and another three heading back. Badly shot up, but only rear gunner, F/S Thomas, lightly wounded in right foot. Outstanding work by our gunners. Four out of six fighters driven off, probably damaged. Managed to reach target. Heavy overcast and winds aloft over target. Searchlights missed us; no flack observed. Bombs dropped on TI's but poor photos expected due to cloud cover. Absolutley stellar job by entire crew. Landed safely despite damage to landing gear. Three cannon hits to starboard wing root; too bloody close. F/S Thomas not seriously hurt.
