O Orange II Mission 20 AAR : Frankfurt

We we jumped by an ME110 from below shortly after crossing the coast. We took three hits, one damaging the port wing aileron, one passing through harmlessly and the third badly hitting Pilot Wilson in the left arm. The MU gunner returned fire and damaged the ME110 causing it to dive away trailing smoke from the port motor.

Flight Engineer Turek with the aid of Wireless Operator Perkins managed to bandage Wilson's wound and Turek assisted in flying the aircraft to target and home. Bomb run was on target 30%.

Pilot Wilson managed to land the aircraft safely and was immediately taken to the base hospital. The doctors did their best but had to amputate Wilson's left arm at the elbow due to the severe damage to the arm.

William Wilson is awarded a second DFM and for their actions in aiding their pilot and flying the aircraft Flight Engineer Turek is awarded a DFM and Max Perkins is awarded Mentioned in Dispatches
