C for Cindy Mission 22 AAR : Berlin

Mission Description:
25th/26th November 1943

Half of the way in a lone Me110 hit us hard. He wounded our Bombardier, 2Lt. Wellington, and KOed our heat in half of the aircraft. We had one jammed gun turret in the nose and our tail turret was destroyed I decided to abort the mission and get out of this mess. We jettisoned the bombs and turned for home. I dropped the Lancaster to 10,000 feet to warm up our crew. Amazingly we attracted no flak on the trip home. The crew was extremely disappointed not to have had a chance to bomb the target, especially since we were grounded from the last mission as well. Maybe tomorrow night we can strike back.
