We were first attacked by a 110 north of Den Helder over the North Sea. Sneeky bastard who got real close as we passed thru some cloud cover. Lost the starboard rudder controls and #3 engine was knocked out. We managed to damage him as I put the plane into a corkscrew. Slowed, we kept on towards the target.
Jerry returned once over Germany, just west and again south of Luneberg. We damaged two different 110's that missed us and we destroyed one just westnorthwest of Potsdam. Weather was very bad over the target, we were in and out of cloud cover. A Wild Boar found us and made some passes. Mostly ineffective hits except for #1 running away. Scared, oh yes, thought we'd have to bail but Green got the thing feathered and the fuel shutoff. Hit by flak, we managed to spot the markers and dropped the load, thought we might have been wide of the mark but the pathfinder reported 30% on target.
More flak damage as we tried to head for home, the cloud cover help to hide us even though I had to drop us down to 10,000 ft. Pestered again by 110's near Luneburg, damaged one and Roberts got the other, no sneaking up on him once we head for home.
Landing was alright, but then, it was daylight by the time we got back. Can I go now? (17 hits for 158 pts)
