O Orange II Mission 22 AAR : Berlin

We are starting not to like Berlin. An ME110 jumped us on the way to target and managed to get 16 rounds into O Orange II. Most of the damage was superficial but our port landing gear hydraulics were shot out and the tyre shredded. Pilot Morgan took a fragment in the leg but Flight Engineer managed to get a dressing on it. Our gunners got a couple of hits on the ME110 and it finally broke off attack leaving us alone.

Unfortunately we only got 5% of the bombs on target. The trip home was uneventful until the landing. We had to manually lower the gear and with no left tyre Morgan did a magnificent job of keeping O Orange II's left wing flying long enough to prevent a massive ground loop. For his actions in landing the aircraft Morgan is awarded a DFM.
