PM008: A. Galbraith, pilot, reporting. Our first mission almost came to a rather premature end when we were surprised by a Me-110 which snuck up from behind us over the North Sea. Bastard almost tore our wing off with his first burst. (Jenkins, our WTO, said three cannon shells hit the starboard wing root.) In addition our nose turret was knocked out and Ketchell, the mid-upper gunner, took a knock as well. Despite being surprised Leonard, our rear gunner, recovered well to send the bosch down in flames. We got surprised once more on our way to target, with Leonard claiming one kill and one heavily damaged. Hastings put 30% on target, though he said he was tempted to drop on the Reichstag instead. Cheeky. Anyway, we were surprised one final time exitting the target zone, with Leonard heavily damaging that 110 as well. The lad is a crack shot, but we'll have to chat a bit about keeping his eyes open. Rest of the trip was smooth, even with the starboard wing handing on by a thread.( 4 hits, 176 Peckham Points)
