What a nice welcome to this business. Our first flight against the Hun. Fieldstone spotted a 110 moving in on us in zone 6, before we hit the cloud cover, and we danced around a bit before O'Shea got him from the mid-upper. We got jumped west of Potsdam and took some damage before we finally eluded the 110. Everything seemed to still function with the aircraft.
Got jumped again over the target, tried to evade down into some clouds below us, but the fellow followed us right in. He hit the starboard wing really hard. I was very excited, I thought until we broke out of the cloud and were immediately hit with a searchlight followed by a 109. He was a very good pilot and managed to hit us I think with every pass, tough to say as flak was bursting around us. He knocked out the mid upper guns and damaged the inboard fuel cell on the starboard wing. White started to transfer fuel, but I guess it was a rather large hole as we only were able to make it back to the North Sea in Zone 5, where I made a good landing and Air/Sea rescue was standing by.
With all of the excitement over the target, Parks had no idea where over the target we were as he could not see any indicators nor land marks because of the searchlight. He toss the bombs and we left the area trailed by a 110 that Fieldstone managed to kill somewhere northwest of the city.
