Our trouble began shortly after crossing the Dutch coast. An ME110 nailed us pretty hard shooting out the port wing flap, port wing aileron and port rudder, jamming the rear turret, damaging the starboard ammo tray, holing the life raft, damaging the port wing root and causing additional damage in both wings. At the turning point another ME110 attacked and caused additional damage to the port wing and some superficial damage to the bomb bay.
Over the target an ME109 attacked under Wild Boar and caused more damage to both wings and the waist. Despite all of the action we managed to get 30% of the load on the target which we considered not bad given the high winds and poor visibility over the target. Another ME110 hit us as we left the target zone and caused more damage throughout the AC and shot out the starboard wing flap. SGT Morgan managed to keep things under control and managed a hard but safe landing without the benefit of the port rudder and the wings flaps using throttle settings to get us on final approach on the flare path.
Sgt Morgan was awarded the DFM for his actions.
