We came under heavy attack from Jerry night fighters for most of the flight to the target. Flight officer Lane and Sgt DelGado both were wounded. Sgt Philips was killed at his station prior to the bomb run. Despite the damage to the ship, Flight Officer Gardner was able to drop all of our bomb load on the target indicator. On our way back to England we did not encounter any enemy aircraft. Both Flight Officer Lane and Sgt DelGado will recover from their wounds and we been assigned Sgt James Smyth from the replacement pool. Tough break for the boys since we are nearing the end of our 30 missions.
