Took off and joined formation. Jumped by nightfighter just after crossing enemy coast, luckily no hits registered defensive fire did its job.
As soon as this one left another came in on us and we took fire on his third pass, superficial waist and bomb bay damage. Our Flight Engineer Sgt Waldman died during this attack. Number #3 Engine was also hit and knocked out, i decided to continue with mission.
After a short break in fighters we were surprised by a nightfighter and took more damage to both wings losing starboard aileron.
Over Target a wildboar flew by guns blazing but we never noticed any damage, Flak was light and we survived and were not detected by searchlights, bombs seemed on target. As we turned for home another nightfighter homed in on us hitting starboard wing root and inboard fuel tank.
No other attacks until we crossed the enemy coast again but our keen eyed tail gunner spotted and shot down the fighter before he could do us any more damage.
