Sweet Caroline Mission 32 AAR : Frankfurt

The entire crew of the Sweet Caroline safely returned to England, but not the Sweet Caroline. As we crossed into Germany, we were met by a 110. His guns found the starboard fuel tank and we began loosing fuel fast. I decided to turn the aircraft around and head back to base.

Halfway across the Netherlands, we were intercepted by another 110. Engine four was hit and knocked out. To remain at our current speed, I ordered Pilot Officer Stallings to drop our bombs. We manage a small amount of revenge when Sgt Nash in the Mid Upper Guns hit the 110 and sent him running.

We made it over the North Sea and prayed we would make it back to the English coast. We ran out of fuel and had to make an emergency landing in the ocean. The entire crew survived the landing and we were picked up by a coastal defense patrol ship.
