As we crossed the Belgium-Germany border, a Me110 climbing vertically surprised us and landed a few hits. The port rudder was slightly damaged, pilot's windscreen damaged, and our port side landing gear was shot out. This same chap returned to attack at our 1:30 position level, but missed us this round.
Nearing the target, we were again surprised by a Me110 coming in low at our 6. Rear turret guns jammed on first shot. Luckily the chap was a terrible aim and missed us altogether. Three other Me110s made an appearance, but buzzed away after some serious fire from our boys.
While Revard lined us up for the bomb run, we were hit by flak twice, tearing a good hole in our starboard wing, knocking out our port elevator, and shredding our rubber raft. All the bouncing ruined Revard's aim, and we missed the target altogether.
Returning home, Jerry decided to come up to play over Belgium. A Me110 came up under us and did terrible damage to our bombing gear and jammed the bombbay doors.
Bringing the A/C in for a landing proved difficult, and it cracked up in the process. All crew survived the crash, but the plane will never fly again. Hopefully the ground boys can get a few parts out of her.
