B for Bertie Mission 33 AAR : Berlin

We got a report from our MTB patrols aircraft down, we moved into the area from Mayday report/radio messages from the aircraft.

Your aircraft B for Bertie was shot down over the sea this evening.

Four Survivors were picked up by our Launch. I am sorry to inform you we could not find the other crew members.

B for Bertie attacked by fighter before reaching enemy coastline heavy fire recieved to pilot compartment, tail and waist. Oxygen fire raged while the gunners tried to remove the fighter unfortunatly after the tail gunner got his prize the fire was out of control and could not be extinguished.

I gave the order to bail out and some of us were picked up by a rescue launch. We lost our flight engineer, radio operator and Mid upper gunner.

Full report after check up at Hospital and return to Base with surviving crew members.
