Thunderbird Mission 33 AAR : Berlin

I take great pleasure in reporting the safe return of the Thunderbird and her entire crew to base. Even with the bad weather over base, it was quit a sight for this crew to finally see our base from the air. We successfully delivered our cargo to Berlin and returned home without a scratch.

Maybe it was because we were one of the first bombers to take to the sky, but we encoutered very little resistance. Our first 110 intercepted us halfway into Germany. He missed on his first pass and then I evaded his other attempts to target us.

Over the target a spotlight locked onto us, but the 109's guns failed to land any hits. After Pilot Oficer Stallings delivered our bombs, a 110 tried to sneak up on us, but Sgt Humphery spotted him. I rolled into a corkscrew and Jerry gave up. Halfway home another 110 tried to attack us. Again Mr. Humphery spotted him and I corkscrewed to the left. This pilot was more experienced. He matched me move for move. After about a half hour of dancing with Jerry, Sgt Humphery locked his guns on the 110 and did enough damage to send Jerry running home.

The rest of our flight was uneventful. The Thunderbird and her entire crew stand ready for our next mission.
