Half way to the target our heating system failed, we elected to continue on to the target. About 150 miles from the target we were attacked by a Me110 which we managed to damage and drive off. As we started our bomb run we were found be enemy searchlights. Shortly after that we were struck mid-ships by flak. Most of the damage was minor but our bombs missed the target totally. As we departed the target we exchanged fire with an Me109, damaging Jerry before we slipped away. Later our rear gunner spotted another Me100 coming in low from 6 o'clock. He managed to hit the ship repeatedly and Jerry disappeared in a blinding flash. Upon landing we discovered that the brakes were damaged, but we managed to land with successfully.
