Quiet trip until over target area. Received fire from an unseen fighter which caused only minor damage. As we corkscrewed, Anderson spotted the Jerry at 12:00 level and flamed him. We were bracketed by searchlights shortly after and received fire from a single-engine fighter which appeared to be a Bf-109. He caused some damaged to our starboard wing and radio compartment. As he came in for another attack from 6:00 high, Berger exploded him.
We managed to avoid the flak and Anderson put the eggs on target with 30% damage observed. As we began to relax and share a few jokes as we neared home, we saw tracer fire from the 6:00 position and immediately began corkscrewing. We spotted the bugger at 12:00 and Berger flamed him as well. Not a bad night for Old Edwin.
Landing was uneventful.
