Attacked by a 110 while over Holland. Minor damage to the port wing. Sgt Nash in the Mid-Upper hit him as he circled around for a second attack. The 110 broke off attack.
Attacked a second time as we crossed into Germany. More minor damage to the aircraft. On his second pass he hit our tail doing minor damage to the port tail and knocking out Sgt Humphrey's tail turret. Sgt Humphrey spent the rest of the mission as an observer only. P/O Stallings got some revenge when he hit the 110 as his tried a third pass.
Over the target we encountered little resistance. Flak came close to us, but Thunderbird made it to the target without being hit. Mr Stallings took over and delivered our cargo on target. It looked like about a third of our bombs hit.
As we left the target area another 110 attacked us, but I don't believe any of his shots managed to hit us. Sgt Nash got his second hit of the night, causing the German pilot to break off his attack.
The reset of the flight was uneventful. We landed back at base safe and sound.
