Attacked first off the Northern Dutch coast and the 110 hit us repeatedly even though we spotted him approaching. The damage appeared to be superficial. Slight turbulance north of Emden, we were attacked again once over Germany. #2 was damaged and ran-a-way but got it feathered. So close to Berlin, we continued to the target at a slower pace. Crowded over the target and it didn't help we were slow. A 110 hit us and knocked out the starboard elevator. Flak was bad and we took a number of hits, tossing us about. Someone in a Lanc that was caught in searchlights was all over the sky and almost collided with us. Yes, we missed the target. Coming out towards the north, we caught more Flak that holed the outer port fuel cell. A 110 had a go at us but fire from the nose and mid-upper knocked him out. We lost a critical amount of fuel and flew as long as possible. Made contact with air/sea rescue and ditched the bomber near a motorboat. All crew rescued.
