We head out toward Berlin tonight with high confindence. No resistance is detected until we are close to our target. A lone ME-110 atacks us and our St. Wing flap is hit! luckily no damage. he attacks again and the Mid Upper Gunner is Hit! But only a light wound. We get loose and fly on to the target. A 110 is waiting and we are hit again and the Bomb Aimer is hit! Seriously wounded! On another attack the Port Wing Flap is hit, but no damage.
We approach the target after avoiding the Searchlights. With our Aimer hurt the drop is dissapointing, we miss the target. Zero percent on target. We turn for home and run into another 110! The Bomb bay doors are hit! and damaged! The Flight Engineer takes the foreward gun and is imediately hit! Seriously Wounded! We take a battering from a determined Night Fighter! The Bomb Bay doors are hit again! We finally wiggle free and escape. We are on the way back & encounter one more fighter. We all miss our shots and we once again are on our way home. We land back at base safely.
