Our flight to Berlin was quiet. Encounterend one 110 before reaching Berlin. Sgt Humphrey did some damage to the enamy aircraft. The 110 missed on all of his passes.
Over Berlin we encountered one more 110, but Sgt Humphrey's machine guns quickly discouraged the jerry from trying to attack us.
At this point all hell broke lose and the German flak zeroed in on us. Sgt Nash was hit and instantly killed. Our fuel tank was hit and we started to lose fuel. Dispite all the damage we took, our expert Bombaimer, Pilot Officer Stallings, still managed to deliver our cargo on target.
The flight home was uneventful, but short. We ran our of fuel off the coast of the Netherlands and had to ditch into the ocean. Lucky for us, we were rescued by a royal navy patrol boat.
