Just after crossing into Germany, Me110 at vertical climb missed. This was followed by Me110 at 6 low, inflicting the following damage on our a/c: Port wing root hit, Stbd wing root hit twice. On 110's return pass, a/c suffered following damage: Bomb Bay doors inoperable.
A/c hit by 7 burst of flak over target: port inboard fuel tank, sealed, Tail gunner heat out, Engine 3 hit, operable, Port wing root hit, autopilot inoperable.
Bombs could not be released due to doors inoperable. A/C dropped to 10,000 feet due to Tail gunner heat out.
Jerry must have been looking for us up high — return flight at 10,000 feet was uneventful. Safe landing.
