The Grim Reaper Mission 37 AAR : Stuttgart

All quiet on the way out. Dont know how we slipped by Jerry's defenses but over the target our luck ran out and were picked up by an ME-110, he came in and caused S/F Damage to the PW and took out our Radio. The gunners shot back and chased him away. The search lights were no where near us and the flak only caused minor damage to the Tail Turret Ammo feed and S/F damage to the BB. After the flak it was strangely quiet, Jerry was no where around so we didnt wait and our bomb aimer took a deep breath and let go our bombs. "Bombs Gone Skipper!" he called out as I put the aircraft in a hard turn to port. Our tail gunner called out over the intercom, "Massive explosions at the target!" We could feel The Grim Reaper shake from the force as we got the hell out of there. The return trip was pretty quiet as we spotted the ME-110's on two seperate tries and they didn't hit us. Our shooting is still lousy and I will have to speak to the lads about that. We found out on the way back from a Recce Mossy that we put 93% on target! We were a happy lot then as we crossed the coast and came in for a landing. I brought Reaper onto the hardstand area and braked. James our Flt Eng helped me shut everything down. We could hear the lads whooping it with our bomb aimer as we climbed out of the acft. Standing in front of the lads, "Well, well, well … looks like the round of bitters is on me then." We were still acting like kids when our lorry came up. We piled in and the driver turned and asked "How did it go sir?" "Wizard show old man!" I replied as we took off and headed back to the briefing hut.
