Augsburg, Germany – Aircraft
23rd / 24th January 1944
Mission 38;
Lancaster AA404 (Name: Pete's Pest) Our second mission was quite a rough one. Jumped by a Tame Boar that knocked out one engine, half our heat as well as seriously wounding Sgt. Jones for a second mission. With one engine down and our tail gunner in bad shape I decided saving Sgt. Jones was now our prime mission. We dropped eggs and turned for home. Other than one hit from small caliber flak guns we didn’t run into to any other enemy activity.
Sgt. Jones was patched up and will be ready for the next mission.
