We flew toward target with no problem until reach Zone 4. Enemy nightfighter attack damages port wing and put out engine 3. German is hit by defense fire by mid upper turret gunner Cpl. Sipewicz, but we know not if it caused enemy fighter to crash. We continue. At German coastline, another enemy nightfighter attack us. We are again hit by enemy bullets and cannon, but no serious damages to our aircraft or crewmen.
Over Brunswick, bad weather keeps enemy nightfighers away from us, but we cannot see target. We drop bombs on Germany and turn for England.
Over North Sea, German nightfighter finds us. We are again hit by enemy gunfire and cannon, and Cpl. Sipewicz is hit bad in his left leg. His wound is attended to by Cpl Adamski. On intercom, tail gunner Cpl. Volka tells us he too is wounded, but it is not bad and he can continue his duties. No more enemy nightfighters.
In England, I am told Cpl. Sipewicz will be unavailable for a long time. He will be replaced by Cpl. Jock MacDoniel Aircraft repairable for next mission.
